What are the International Health Regulations (IHR)?
The IHR (2005) are a legally binding instrument of international law under WHO. They set out the rights and obligations of 196 States Parties to prevent, detect and respond to public health risks that can spread across borders.
When did the 2024 IHR amendments enter into force?
The amendments adopted by the World Health Assembly in June 2024 entered into force on 19 September 2025 for States Parties that did not reject them.
